AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
*Screams.*
Oh, my goodness.
What a wonderful, wonderful, beautifully written and sweet audio. Friend, this is fantastic. The sound layering was so impressive at the end, to combine that effect of switching perspectives from Norman’s voice to Emma as she finishes reading.
Loved that little story implemented here, with the game they were playing at only five years old.
There are so much power and depth to the relationship between Emma and Norman because of those sacred moments we didn’t get to see in the anime (or read in the manga, I’m assuming) and to create an event that didn’t happen but still had such a profound and completely believable integration into the main storyline is no easy feat.
The voice acting here is, as usual, en pointe. The control and understanding of emotional fluctuations from one point to the next are solid, especially in the transition toward the end. I loved how you ended this, with Norman slowing down his pace, and sounding so frightened and determined with passion with those final words.
We know him as such a resilient but too smart for his own good, often accepting the circumstances as they happen and resigning himself to a fate that he believes he can control. You captured that so well in this work, from beginning to end.
The length of this is also understandable, considering the moment it happens in the story. There is no doubt in my mind that he would leave a letter like this to Emma, and the maturity of the character is so prevalent and echoes exactly what he’s like in the anime.
Those little strengths in voice acting that are so important–emotional delivery, an understanding of the character, and the topic’s believability in a universe that isn’t your own creation–are high up the bar here.
I can’t believe this is the first audio you’ve done in… ages? This feels like you’ve been practicing this consistently for weeks. I don’t understand how that’s possible, but the payoff here is an absolute joy.
Norman’s words for Emma here are so precious, believable, and well-written. He’s an articulate character who is clearly a genius and way ahead of his time, so to see this emotional understanding in him makes complete sense.
The fact he ends the letter with “forever yours” is so telling of him, and how that was performed, with the desperation and fear and hope in the voice… it fit together so seamlessly with everything else.
I also can’t get over that story you made up. I already mentioned that, but it seems important. That felt so canonically true? Can we petition to make that a real thing? I think it should be a real thing. *Hosts petition*
Anyway.
The theme, idea and execution was so cohesive and well-written.
I want to keep writing but I don’t have enough time to map down every thought that exists. This is beautifully written and recorded.
I’m happy this moment didn’t exist in the anime/manga, so that you could have the inspiration and freedom to record it.
(Please do more TPN audios everyone will die in the best way–)
Thank you so much for bringing this audio to life for the world to appreciate and listen.
